Our commitment to sustainability begins with respect for the environment and recognition that every project we undertake has an impact on it. At Aboitiz Construction, we strive to only bring a positive impact by upholding environmental standards, empowering our teams to join eco-initiatives, and ensuring responsible and sustainable operations.
Aboitiz Construction is dedicated to effective waste management as part of its sustainability agenda. By practicing waste segregation, recycling, and the responsible disposal of hazardous materials, we minimize our environmental footprint. These practices are integrated into every project phase, underscoring our commitment to reducing waste and promoting environmental responsibility across all operations.
We placed eWaste Boxes for the hauling and recycling of electronic, electrical, and IT waste that are considered hazardous. This initiative not only promotes responsible disposal but also helps protect the environment by ensuring that harmful materials are processed safely and efficiently.
Our ISO 14001 certification enhances the company’s environmental performance and compliance, promotes cost savings, and strengthens our commitment to sustainability. It also provides a competitive edge in bids and fosters a culture of continuous improvement.
One of our key eco-friendly initiatives is the use of Materials Recovery Facilities (MRFs) on project sites to manage and segregate waste. These help ensure that reusable and recyclable materials are sorted properly, reducing landfill contributions and supporting resource conservation.
We’re also advancing this initiative through RoamCycle—a project introducing portable MRFs to serve as standardized, on-site waste sorting hubs. This innovation supports a shift from the traditional “build and destroy” approach to a more sustainable and scalable waste management system.
In 2024, we donated an MRF to Brgy. Bagong Pook in Malvar, Batangas. Built by our skilled team, the facility serves as its central point for waste collection, sorting, and recycling, integrating sustainability features like durable construction materials and solar panels to power its operations.
With rapid societal development, industrialization has increasingly impacted the environment. In response, Aboitiz Construction remains committed to sustainability through initiatives such as tree planting and coastal clean-ups. Aligned with our goal of building a better future, we advance environmental preservation through these meaningful actions.
One of our major tree-planting efforts is in partnership with the Mt. Malaraya Environment Protection Council, Inc., under the National Power Corporation’s Carbon Sequestration Initiative. The Santo Tomas City, Batangas site helps improve air quality, provide oxygen,
and enrich the local environment for both nature and community.
In 2025, our team also took part in Project TERRA (Tree Planting for Environmental Restoration and Renewal Action) in Santo Tomas City, Batangas; Tarlac City; Balamban, Cebu; and Claver, Surigao del Norte, in celebration of Philippine Environment Month.
Through our partnership with the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. (RAFI) and Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. (AFI), we planted 1,450 mangrove seedlings in Lian, Batangas under the Mangrove Enhancement Project. Since 2022, Aboitiz Construction has planted 5,083 trees.
Our coastal clean-ups—organized with local government units, West Cebu Estate in Balamban, Cebu, and Iloilo City—help reduce pollution in oceans and waterways and support marine ecosystem health. These activities also foster teamwork and camaraderie across the Aboitiz community as we work together toward a sustainable future.
These achievements demonstrate our unwavering commitment to sustainability and adherence to the ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System standards. Through diligent monitoring and strict enforcement of environmental policies across our operations, we continue to minimize our environmental impact while ensuring that our practices align with international benchmarks for environmental responsibility.
